No compromise with army rule, says PML-N

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, May 26: The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) will contest the local government elections in Balochistan against the candidates supporting President Gen Pervez Musharraf, the party’s provincial chief Sardar Yaqoob Nasar has said.

Speaking at a press conference at Nasar House on Wednesday, he said the party’s; leadership would stick to its principle that no compromise would be made with the military dictator.

He said the president might postpone the elections at the eleventh hour and allow current nazims to hold their posts for another year as he feared that his opponents would succeed. He said the government’s domestic and foreign policies had failed due to which people were confronted with price-hike, unemployment, high utility bills, lawlessness and political and constitutional crises.

He said the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy was mobilizing the masses to get rid of army rule. He said all the problems faced by the people could be settled by the elected parties which enjoyed the backing of the masses.

He condemned the government for following American policy in Afghanistan. He said the rulers had compromised on the nuclear programme and the Kashmir issue to appease the Bush administration at the cost of national interests.
