Rally held against desecration of Quran

By A Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 26: Convener of Salik Peace Education Foundation J. Salik on Thursday led a protest rally against the desecration of Holy Quran by interrogators in Guantanamo Bay. The rally started from Mr Salik’s residence and dispersed at Saudi Pak Tower.

The participants were holding banners, protesting against the sacrilege and highlighting the need for fraternity and religious respect for all holy books. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Salik expressed his sorrow over the Guantanamo Bay incident.

“Some anti-human elements were responsible for the event who were not loyal to the teachings of Christianity,” he said. He urged the United Nations to pressurize the US government to take concrete action against those responsible for such an act.

Mr Salik said minorities were enjoying full freedom in Pakistan, adding that his foundation would not trample the holiness of Quran.
