KARACHI, May 26: Central leaders of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers’ Association condemning the transfers of teachers after their promotions, said all these transfers were unwanted and against rules and regulations.
They stated this in their meeting with Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman here in his office on Thursday. They also congratulated him on his appointment as the Sindh chief secretary.
The SPLA leaders said that all these promotions were made on basis of a four-stage formula against upgraded posts, and according to the rules transfers on the upgraded posts were not allowed, as the transfers could only be made on the vacant posts or resultant vacancies.
They also apprised the chief secretary about increasing concerns of the teaching community over the undue delay in the issuance of promotion orders from grade 18 to 19. The SPLA leaders drew the attention of the chief secretary towards the appointment of retired teachers on administrative posts, on contract basis.
They also apprised him of progress regarding their meeting with the then chief secretary, held on March 9. The chief secretary assured the SPLA delegation of considering all their problems and said that action would soon be taken in this regard. — PPI
