KARACHI, May 26: The Anti-Car Lifting Cell of the police arrested three suspected carjackers and recovered seven stolen vehicles from their possession, which were to be smuggled to Balochistan. Addressing a press conference here at his office, SSP ACLC Bashir Memon said that the ACLC acted on information provided by a tracker company and intercepted a car on Manghopir road, which was going towards Sakran in Balochistan. As the police stopped the car, five occupants of the car tried to run away. The police arrested three of them identified as Mushtaq, Matloob Haider Bugti, and Sohail Hameed. Police also found three TT pistols and the stolen car (AHP-247). However, their two accomplices, Sabir Bugti alias Asadullah Bugti, and Haji Saifullah Tarar, managed to escape.

Mr Memon said during interrogation, the suspects led the police to a bungalow (F-221) Block-2, PECHS, where the police found more stolen vehicles, besides grinder machines, cutters, fake number plates, gas cylinders, tool kits, and other accessories, which were used for tampering chassis and engine numbers of stolen vehicles.

He said that the bungalow was obtained on rent of Rs20,000 per month by the suspects some 11 months back. He said that the gang stole vehicles mostly white in colour, parked them in the house, tampered with chassis and engine numbers, transported them to Khuzdar and Sohrab in Balochistan where they would sell them for Rs80,000 to Rs70,000 each. The police came to know that a man, namely Dawood purchased stolen cars in Balochistan.

Mr Memon said that Matloob Bugti was a resident of Dera Bugti while Mushtaq and Sohail belonged to Quetta. Their accomplices Aslam and Abid were car-lifters and had obtained a house on rent. Abid was stated to be a sub-engineer in the Balochistan Irrigation Department.
