KARACHI: Scholars meet governor

KARACHI, May 25: Noted scholars Dr Nabi Bux Baloch and Dr Jamil Jalbi, accompanied by Iftikhar Arif, chairman of the Academy of Letters, Pakistan, called on Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Wednesday. The governor lauded their services and told them that the government realized its responsibility with regard to the welfare of researchers and scholars.

He said that the government planned to approach the corporate sector for rehabilitation of the intellectuals as well as artists, who did not have a job or livelihood. Under the plan, he added, these people would be associated with different organizations.

Dr Ibad presented cheques worth Rs100,000 each to Dr Baloch and Dr Jalbi in recognition of their literary services.—PPI
