PESHAWAR, May 24: The Peshawar High Court dismissed on Tuesday an appeal of two convicted drug smugglers and upheld the verdict of the district and sessions judge, Kohat. The division bench comprising Chief Justice Tariq Pervez Khan and Justice Salim Khan, after hearing arguments of the convicts’ counsel and persecution, dismissed the appeal of truck driver Naveed and conductor Umar.

They were arrested by the Shakardara police on May 10, 2000 and 300kg charas was recovered from hidden cavities of their vehicle.

The district and sessions judge awarded them life term and fined them Rs50,000. —-APP
