Hesco disconnective drive criticized

KHAIRPUR, May 24: Power consumers took out a procession on Tuesday in Pakka Chang, Faiz Ganj taluka against unscheduled load-sheding disconnection drive being conducted by Hesco officials in a number of villages for one week. Due to frequent power breakdowns and loadshedding, all the main towns of Faiz Ganj taluka including Bhango Behan, Ukri, Pakka Chang and Faiz Ganj plunged into darkness paralyzing trade and routine life.

Power supply of Faiz Ganj taluka, disconnected on Monday, could not be restored till the filing of this report.

Hesco officials of Padidan disconnected power supply to nine villages including Abdul Wahid Shar, Sukur Shar, Sona Khan, Ameen Rajpar, Arz Muhammad even after payment of bills.

Villagers in Thari Mirwah continued their protest on Tuesday for the third consecutive day against power supply disconnection to 15 villages including Mengho Faqir Shar, Abdul Rahim Jalbani, Hashim Gopang, Ishaque Shar and Haji Jumoon.

The protesters said that majority of consumers had paid bills and alleged that the Hesco officials were not restoring electricity.

Electricity to 10 villages of UC Naseer Faqir Jalalani, Kot Diji taluka and 13 villages in the surrounding area of Ahmedpur, Kingri taluka, Maitlo, Khoso and other villages remained disconnected since last one week.

The villagers also took out a procession in Ahmedpur. The residents of Therhi taluka, Khairpur, staged demonstration outside district nazim office here on Tuesday against load-sheding and detection bills.
