KARACHI, May 24: Corps Commander Lt Gen Syed Athar Ali has exhorted the DHA management to ensure completion of its ongoing mega projects within the stipulated time frame while maintaining the highest degree of professional excellence. He gave these directives while reviewing the progress of Creek Vistas and modernization of Defence Authority Golf Club during a meeting of the DHA Executive Board held at the DHA main office here on Tuesday.
Lt Gen Athar Ali, who is also the President Executive Board of the DHA, directed the officials concerned to ensure mobilization of maximum resources and manpower by the contractors on war footings to complete the projects on time and simultaneously ensure best engineering application and construction standards at each phase of construction.
Earlier, DHA Administrator Brig Maqsood Hussain received the Corps Commander on his arrival at DHA’s main office and gave an in-depth briefing on the DHA’s ongoing mega projects.
The board gave approval of a refurbishment and development project of DHA commercial areas designed to solve the long-standing traffic congestion and parking problems by constructing underpasses on roads running through the main commercial centres.
The approval for the construction of separate multi-storey parking plazas was also given at the meeting.
The board was informed that a professional consultancy firm had already finalized the survey study for undertaking refurbishment and improvement work of Zamzama, Dalton, Badar and Bukhari commercials.
Lt Gen Athar stressed that DHA should adopt efficient and transparent procedures for award of contracts on merit for developing Sea View beach encompassing various zones of DHA water front developments project.
He asked the DHA officials to carry out phase-wise beautification and maintenance of open plots in developed areas of Defence keeping them clean and free from shrubs.
The board also gave approval in principle for developing a new phase of DHA by acquisition of land astride the Super Highway.
The corps commander directed that the new land be developed ensuring state-of-the-art town planning and provision of all civic amenities to develop it as a model phase of new Defence.
The board approved the new improvised garbage collection system in Defence which envisaged supplying of quality collection bags to every home.
It was decided that the charges for the same would be merged in annual conservancy tax of Clifton Cantonment Board. — APP
