KARACHI, May 24: The Human Rights Network (HRN) expressing concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in the country has observed that the fundamental rights of the people were being violated all over the country. These views were expressed in a meeting of HRN Sindh held at the Quba Auditorium here on Tuesday, with HRN’s central president and MNA Liaquat Baloch in the chair.
The meeting adopted various resolutions regarding the violation of human rights in Kashmir and Palestine, the humiliation of prisoners in the US Naval Base Guantanamo Bay and Abu Gharib Prison in Iraq by the US military personals, tribal feud, police atrocities toward citizens besides human rights violation and the sacrilege of the Holy Quran.
Those attended the meeting included central General Secretary of HRN and MNA Asadullah Bhutto Advocate, HRN Sindh Chapter President Advocate Ghulam Qadir Jatoi, Research Director Atta Mohammad Tabbsum, vice-president Abdul Qadir Abro, and Shamsuddin Abbasi.
Mr Baloch, while addressing the meeting, observed that despite having women representation in the assemblies, even the minor problems of women had yet to be solved.
He strongly criticized the people trying to get cheap publicity in the name of human rights for their criminal silence over the desecration of Holy Quran and humiliation of prisoners at the US Naval Base, Guantanamo Bay.
Flaying the former chairperson of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, Asima Jahangir, he questioned whether the problems of women, joblessness, human rights violation and inflation were solved for good, as she was paying her total attention towards mixed-gender marathons and displaying half naked daughters of the nation running on the roads.—PPI
