ISLAMABAD, May 23: The Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) on Monday moved the Election Commission seeking cancellation of registration of all political entities that had merged to form the PML claiming that it was the only genuine Muslim League.

PML-F chief organizer Sheikh Sirajuddin and senior joint secretary Kashif Nizamani submitted the application on behalf of party president Pir Pagara.

According to the application, factional politics had led to the division of the real Muslim League as a consequence of which the interest and solidarity of the country had been hurt. The division of the party is also responsible for the dismemberment of Pakistan, it said.

Meanwhile, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar told reporters at his office that he had received the PML-F application and would decide the matter in accordance with rules and regulations of the commission.

He said that notice would be served on PML secretary-general Senator Mushahid Hussain.
