Drawings for LHC building examined

LAHORE, May 23: Justice Sheikh Abdur Rashid of the Lahore High Court on Monday examined the drawings and the site plan of the western wing of the High Court where more courtrooms are planned to be constructed. Punjab secretary for communications and works Allah Yar Khan, chief architect Zara Ashraf and director of the Punjab architecture department Zahid Javed Raja explained to Justice Rashid that the drawings were based on the recommendations which a five-member sub-committee of experts had formulated in its report submitted in Dec last year. The court adjourned further examination of the site plan and drawings till May 30.

The sub-committee, which comprised architects Imrana Tiwana, Sajida Wandal and Fauzia Qureshi of the National College of Arts, Mahmood Husain of the University of Engineering and Technology and Nayyar Ali Dada, recommended that six courtrooms could be constructed in the 127-year old western wing while preserving its Gothic architecture. — Correspondent
