KARACHI: Aziz Bhatti Park uplift project

KARACHI, May 23: The City Nazim, Niamatullah Khan, said that the Aziz Bhatti Park would be redeveloped according to the dignified status of the martyr. He was speaking as chief guest at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the reconstruction of the Aziz Bhatti Park here on Sunday night.

On the occasion, the nazim said that its existing desolation would be removed and it would be made more beautiful and fascinating with interesting additions of traditional and modern facilities including a lake with boats.

He said that keeping in view the popularity of model parks and playgrounds among the people, parks like Daman-i-Koh and Bagh Ibn-i-Qasim would prove the most beautiful parks not only in Karachi but also in the country’s history.

The nazim announced that the coastal areas of Karachi would also be developed and modern recreational facilities would be provided there.

“The people will always remember the trust and honesty with which the city government worked in the health and education sectors, development of parks and carried out other development works”.

Earlier MNA Asadullah Bhutto and DO parks also addressed the ceremony.

Meanwhile, the nazim laid the foundation stone for the installation of sewerage line in Block J, North Nazimabad and Shahrah-i-Aziz Bhatti in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Sunday night.

On the occasion, he directed the concerned authorities to complete both the schemes in three months instead of six months.

The sewerage line to be laid in the North Nazimabad will be about one km long and will cost Rs9.2 million.

The nazim was informed that completion of this scheme would help overcome the problem of sewage flow in the Sakhi Hasan graveyard and benefit the residents of Block J, Shadman 14-A, 14-B and Mustafabad.

North Nazimabad Town Nazim Fasihuddin Siddiqi, UC Nazim and Adviser Qazi Sadruddin were also present on the occasion. Shahrah-i-Aziz Bhatti is being reconstructed at a cost of Rs13 million.

Birdshow extended: The nazim has announced a three-day extension in the ongoing bird show at the Safari Park.

Addressing a ceremony held in connection with the bird show at Safari Park on Sunday evening, he said restoration of Safari Park was a big achievement of the city government.

He said in the past, no attention was given towards the zoo at the Safari Park.

The nazim said the city government had concentrated on improving infrastructure of health and education, besides taking steps for providing better recreational facilities to the citizens.

He maintained that more recreational points were needed for Karachi and the city government was taking several steps in this regard.—APP/PPI
