KARACHI, May 23: Federal Communication Minister Shamim Siddiqi here on Monday laid the foundation-stone of a sewerage scheme in Malir to be executed under the Khushal Pakistan programme 2004-05 at an estimated cost of Rs 25 million. Speaking on the occasion, Shamim Siddiqi told the people that with a special request to Prime Minister, an allocation of Rs 50 million was nade for development works in Malir area.
He said of this amount Rs 2.5 million will be spent on sewerage system in UC-4, Rs 2.5 million in UC-5, Rs 2.5 million in UC-6, Rs 10 million on construction of road from Shaheed Pumping Station to KDA road, Rs 10 million on road from Liaquat Market to Saudabad.
The Communication Minister informed that Rs 20 million will be spent on sewerage improvement in various areas and Rs 2 million on road from Liaquat Market to Model Colony road.
He said the time is not far away that all problems of people of Malir will be solved and they will benefit with basic facilities like people of other parts of Karachi.
He assured that he will himself monitor the implementation of development works to ensure their completion within the stipulated time.—APP
