Electronic exchange of invoices

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 23: The government is considering prescribing rules for allowing electronic submission and exchange of invoices between buyers and sellers. An official told Dawn on Monday that the proposal would be considered in the upcoming budget for the year 2005-06 to facilitate the buyers and sellers.

Under the existing system, a supplier issued invoice to the other person, which they later negotiated, which resulted into unnecessary delay and hardships for both the parties. To remover this hardship, it was under consideration to make amendments in the Sales Tax Act 1990 to allow electronic interlink between the seller and buyers.

Through this link, they would exchange all particulars mentioned in the section 23 of the invoice, which would also be acceptable to the sales tax department, added the official.
