Irfan, Ashraf shine
KARACHI, May 21: Fine batting by Irfanullah and Ashraf Ali inspired Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to a crushing 201-run victory over City District Government Karachi (GDGK) in the 14th KCCA Inter-departmental cricket tournament at the KCCA Stadium on Friday. Irfan hit 95 with 11 boundaries and Ashraf struck 86 with 13 fours as SSGC piled up 359 for six in 40 overs. Other notable scorers were Sajid Qureshi (62 with six fours) and Waqas Haroon (56 with eight fours and two sixes).
CDGK responded with a paltry 158 with Sarwat Ali making a dogged 74 which included seven fours and one six.
In another match at the Student Ground, Omer Associates beat Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) by 10 wickets. Asad Shafiq plundered an unbeaten 101 for the winners with the aid of 12 fours and one six.
Meanwhile, in matches played on Thursday, Sindh Police overwhelmed Habib and Company by 106 runs at the KCCA Stadium while A.J. Worldwide beat Candyland by 96 runs at UBL Sports Complex.
