Senate session summoned

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 19: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Thursday summoned the Senate to meet on May 31 at 5pm, according to an official notification. The president has summoned the session of the Senate in exercise of the powers conferred by clause 1 of article 54 of the constitution. It will be the 21st session of the senate.

The Senate session is likely to continue till completion of a debate on the federal budget for the year 2005-06, scheduled to be presented in the National Assembly on June 6.

On the other hand, the opposition parties have submitted a heavy agenda to the Senate Secretariat in an effort to give a tough time to the government in the forthcoming session.
