LARKANA, May 19: On the call of Citizens’ Action Committee, a complete strike was observed in Qambar on Thursday in protest against the Sindh government’s decision of renaming the district as Shahdadkot. All business centres and markets remained closed and traffic was not allowed to ply on the town roads.

A procession was also taken out which was led by CAC general secretary Nazeer Tunio and Bhao Buriro. The protestors burnt tyres and chanted slogans against the Sindh government.

CAC leaders said the chief minister and three ministers had visited the area and met cross section of people to know views on renaming the district.

One of the suggestions he was given that the district should be named Khirthar after the name of Khirthar mountainous range.
