SWABI, May 19: The Swabi Development Authority (SDA) has allocated Rs18.3 million for development work in Shah Mansoor Township and it is expected that road construction work will start soon. People had begun selling their flats in the township because of delay in development work there.
Sources said that the allotment of flats would be completed in June and the remaining five marla and one kanal plots would also be allotted.
They said development and allotment in the towship had stopped because of a tussle between the district nazim and some officials of the SDA. There were also allegations of illegal allotments, they said.
However, they said, the issue had been settled and now the township’s development was one of the top priorities of the district government.
They said Rs8 million had been allocated for the construction of roads, Rs7 million for sewerage systems, Rs1.8 million for the provision of electricity and Rs1.5 million for a park.
The development work would be completed within a year and people would be asked to start construction of their flats, they said. They said the contractors who failed to complete the development work in time would face penalty.
