Qazi welcomes fatwa

LAHORE, May 19: Jamaat-i-Islami Amir Qazi Husain Ahmad has welcomed the Fatwa (religious decree) given by some religious scholars a couple of days ago declaring suicide attacks in Pakistan as against Shariat laws. Qazi said the scholars had done a great job by excluding martyrdom operations in Palestine, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Iraq and Chechnya from the purview of the Fatwa.

The exemption, he said, would help thwart designs of anti-Islam forces to malign the ongoing freedom struggles in these countries.—Staff Reporter
