KARACHI: CMs pledge to extirpate criminals


KARACHI, May 19: The chief ministers of Sindh and Balochistan, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Jam Mohammed Yusuf on Thursday held a high-level meeting at chief minister house here regarding the law and order situation in the two provinces. The meeting was also attended by Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi, principal secretaries to Sindh governor and chief minister and other officials.

In the meeting satisfaction was expressed over the outcome of operation started for the elimination of criminals and their activities on both sides of the Karachi-Hub border, arrest of criminals and establishment of a peaceful environment.

Sindh chief minister expressed gratitude to his counterpart for his cooperation towards joint efforts with the Sindh government on the issue of law and order.

Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Mohammed Yusuf declared that action against criminal elements would continue through joint efforts. He warned the criminals to immediately surrender themselves before law enforcers or else they would have to face a very strong action.

The Balochistan chief minister assured all out cooperation of the Balochistan government to the Sindh government and said wherever required, cooperation would continue for the establishment of law and order and safeguarding the collective interests.

Later the meeting was also joined by Sindh Adviser Waseem Akhtar and Political Secretary Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi.

Talking to the media the two chief ministers described the ongoing operation against criminals a fruitful attempt and said both the provinces would help each other on the issue of law and order so as to ensure peaceful industrial and economic progress.

The two chief ministers expressed determination that the issue of NFC award would be resolved in the national interests.

Dr Arbab said that the Sindh government had expressed its views on this issue by keeping various aspects into view.

Both the chief ministers dispelled the impression that there was any dispute between the two provinces over gas royalty and said if there was any dispute, it would be settled soon.

Meanwhile, Dr Arbab presided over a meeting of Pakistan Muslim League (PML) officer and workers of the Nawabshah district.

The meeting evolved strategy to promote message of the PML, expedite the campaign to raise its membership and to chalk out a joint strategy for the upcoming local bodies polls.—APP/PPI
