Asad, Shreshta hit centuries

KARACHI, May 18: Fine centuries by Hafiz Asad and Dipen Shreshta were the highlight of the drawn match between KCCA-KPT and the visiting Asia Select Under-15 at the KCCA Stadium. The visitors, who appeared in danger of defeat in the two-day tie, were set a target of 204 in 45 overs but hung on for a draw at 176 for six with Navtej Singh (52) and James Atkinson (24) batting courageously until the end.

Batting first, KCCA-KPT made 301 in 60 overs with Hafiz Asad retiring with exactly 100 against his name. His innings contained nine fours. Skipper Hamza Ishtiaq also excelled by making 72.

The touring side were all out for only 189 in their 60 overs despite Shreshta’s gallant 104, which included 11 boundaries.

The local side declared their second innings at 91 for four with Hafiz Asad remaining unbeaten on 52.
