OKARA, May 18: The protesting tenants announced a break in their sit-in on Wednesday and showed willingness to hold dialogue with administration for release of two arrested tenants. The protesters from the Military Farms villages were demanding immediate release of tenants Muhammad Altaf and Saleem. Altaf had reportedly been detained under 3-MPO at Sahiwal central jail, while Saleem was arrested in connection with various cases registered against him.

Anjuman-i-Mazareen Pakistan vice-president Altaf Kamboh and Abdul Sattar Chaman said the organization had ended sit-in on temporary basis, and could negotiate the release of the detained tenants. They said that AMP would challenge the three-month detention order of Altaf in the Lahore High Court and try to get Saleem released on bail.

Meanwhile, police continued to patrol GT Road under the command of city DSP Syed Nazir Hussain Shah.

Acting DPO Adnan Amir told Dawn that police had avoided any collision with the tenants, adding that no violation of law could be allowed.

SHOT DEAD: A youth allegedly shot dead his aunt, along with her 10-month-old son, after the woman refused to marry her daughter with the accused.

The deceased, Sakina Bibi, after refusing the marriage proposal of accused Mushtaq of 32-4L, had married her daughter Anwar Bibi with one Yasin of the same village.

Shahbore police have registered the case.
