Nadir sparkles

KARACHI, May 17: Nadir Ansari narrowly missed scoring a century by just two runs, but his knock helped Rafiq Shirazi Memorial CC outclass Friends Gymkhana by 154 runs in the KCCA Centenary Inter-club cricket tournament at the Al-Mansoora Ground on Monday. Nadir, who slammed 98 with 10 fours and a brace of sixes, led Rafiq Shriazi reach 325 for four in 40 overs. Mohammad Salman (68 with seven fours) and Iftikhar Ahmed (65 not out with eight hits to the fence) were other main scorers.

Friends Gymkhana were dismissed for 171 in 33 overs despite a brave knock of 81 by Sajid Ashraf, who struck seven fours.

Meanwhile, fine batting by Gul Mohammad (68 with eight fours), Kamran Ahmed (60 with six fours) and Jawwad Ali (56 with five fours) guided Asifabad Sports to a 67-run victory over Shadab Sports.
