HYDERABAD, May 17: The DCO has said that six watercourses were lined by May 14 and work on 44 watercourses is in progress in the defunct Hyderabad district under the National Programme for Improvement of Watercourses. DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed was presiding over a meeting to review implementation of the project at his office on Monday.
He said against 254 targeted watercourses, the on-farm water management, Hyderabad, had received 338 applications from farmers out of which 250 watercourses had been surveyed, 206 watercourses designed and 135 watercourses sanctioned for lining.
He told the meeting that earth work of 72 watercourses had been completed and work on 15 watercourses was in progress.
About financial position, the DCO said Rs43.577 million had been released to the executing organization out of which Rs14.971 million had been utilized up to May 14.
He directed officers concerned to expedite the development work.
Discussing technical problems raised by the district officer, on-farm water management, the DCO directed the officer to follow guidelines of the programme monitoring unit which was supposed to fix parameters in consultation with the irrigation department.
