KARACHI: Ibad lauds efforts of excise police


KARACHI, May 17: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad awarded appreciation certificates to 35 officials of the excise police for their extraordinary performance, here on Tuesday. In this connection a ceremony was arranged in the governor’s house. Federal Minister for Communication Shamim Siddiqui, Provincial Adviser on Excise and Taxation M.A Jalil and Provincial Excise Secretary Mir Hussain Ali were also present.

Speaking on the occasion the governor said that the negative image of the government departments and agencies could be dispelled by their positive work, good performance and giving relief to the common man.

He said that the main objective of the government departments was to serve the citizens and this should be made visible through actions.

Dr Ibad said that the police, since last few years, had worked with a vision and provided relief to the citizens by carrying out operations against the outlaws and terrorists.

He said that due to these efforts of the police, a peaceful atmosphere was emerging in the province.

The governor said that it was a result of these efforts that even prayer leaders and ulemas had prayed for the success of the police.

Lauding the efforts of the excise police he said that all that was achieved was a result of a strong political will on behalf of the government and efficiency of the police department.

He said that the task of making Sindh a drug-free province would be accomplished by the hard work and dedication of the excise department.

Dr Ibad said that this was a big challenge and not only the Sindh province but also the whole country was in its grip and thousands of young people were affected by it.

He also stressed for initiating campaigns to create awareness in this regard.

Dr Ibad said that the Excise Department should play its pivotal role by focusing on this issue.

He said that the Excise Department for the first time had nabbed the manufacturers of drugs, which was a big step.

The governor said that even bigger achievements by the said department were hoped.

Dr Ibad also said that the government was focusing on the welfare of these government servants.

Adviser M A Jalil said on the occasion that the excise police deserved much encouragement, as it was giving good results despite limited resources.

He said that these appreciation certificates would boost the moral of the entire department.

Mr Jalil also said that his department had achieved 50 per cent raise in revenue collection as compared to the figures of the last year.—PPI
