DHAKA: Unknown assailants on Tuesday morning shot dead an office-bearer of the Awami League, which immediately gave a call for a dawn-to-dusk strike on Wednesday. The 42-year-old Khorshed Alam Bachchu was legal affairs secretary of the party’s Dhaka unit. Officials said nine bullets had pierced Mr Bachchu’s chest, throat and abdomen. He died on the spot.
