LAHORE, May 16: FIFA after being disappointed with the slow pace of the construction work at the Goal Project in Lahore has appointed an engineer to ensure completion without further delay. The Goal Project was to be completed in May this year at a cost of $765,000.
FIFA is providing the major share of USD$ 450,000 while the remaining will be generated by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF).
The consultant and the contractor of the project had claimed that the delay had been made due to unprecedent rainy season in Lahore in the month of Feb-March.
FIFA issued new instructions to the consultant advising them to complete at least 50 per cent work by the end of May.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is also showing slackness in completing the project.
To meet the deficit budget of the project, the federation had made a request to the prime minister three months before. The prime minister had accepted it and the government had asked for PC-1 of the project. But the federation could hardly have sent the PC-1 a couple of days before.
