NSTCC to have new chief

By Our Sports Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 16: The National Sports Training and Coaching Centre (NSTCC) in Karachi is to have a new head shortly, officials at the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) said on Monday. Akhtar Ganjera, who returned from Australia only recently where he was pursuing his Ph.D, is to take up the job as deputy director general at the centre, Brig Arif Mahmud Siddiqui, the head of PSB told Dawn.

Ganjera joined PSB in 1986 and was deputy director general (Research and Training) at the Pakistan Sports Complex when he left for Australia where he spent five years.

He will replace Noor Ali Shah at the NSTCC who has been asked to report back at the headquarters in Islamabad.

“Ganjera’s background in sports makes him eligible for this appointment for he is fully capable of handling the affairs at NSTCC,” Arif said.
