ISLAMABAD, May 16: Pakistan and Kuwait on Monday agreed to enhance cooperation in various areas of higher education to benefit from each other’s expertise. An official press release said the agreement was reached between the two sides at a meeting held at the Higher Education Commission. Federal minister and the commission chairman, Prof Attaur Rehman, led the Pakistani team, while the six-member Kuwaiti delegation was led by Prof (Dr) Rasha Al-Sabah, deputy education minister, Ministry of Higher Education, Kuwait, says a press release.

Talking to the Kuwaiti minister, Prof Ata said the state of underdevelopment and the political and economic dependence prevailing in the Muslim world was due to a faulty vision on the part of planners and political leadership. Muslim countries failed to give due priority to funding education and research and development activities. The result is an ever increasing gap in advancement in science and technology, leading to transfer of resources from Islamic world to advanced world.
