Govt accused of creating political crisis
SHIKARPUR, May 15: President of the People’s Party Parliamentarian, PPP, Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, has accused the rulers of creating political crisis in the country. Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, he expressed concern over the step-motherly treatment meted out to the opposition parties by the rulers who, he added, were bent upon destabilizing the PPP by adopting negative tactics.
He said that the PPP would continue its struggle for restoration of democratic process under the leadership of Benazir Bhutto.
He said that the employees, sacked by the government, would be reinstated and the PPP would undo the wrong policies formulated by the present government.
He said that the rulers had done nothing for the welfare of the people and violated the constitution only to protect their interests.
To a question about the resolution passed in the Sindh Assembly regarding appointments in multinational companies at Karachi, the PPP leader termed it an act of dividing the people of Sindh.
He said it was due to inefficiency of the government that the country was facing water crisis adding that no accord would be acceptable other than the 1991 water sharing formula which should be implemented through the Council of Common Interests.
Our Larkana Correspondent adds: Addressing a public meeting at Lalo Raunk town on Sunday, Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that only direct talks between the government and Benazir Bhutto could bear fruit.
He said on the one hand General Parvez Musharraf was talking about parleys with the PPP while, on the other, he was saying that she would not be allowed to return to the country.
He advised the government to hold direct talks with Ms Bhutto.
Criticizing Sindh minister Altaf Unnar for political victimization of PPP workers, he said when Allah Bukhsh alias Dado Unnar, the nephew of the minister, was right when he sided
him and he was labelled as a criminal when he joined the PPP.
Leader of the opposition in Sindh Assembly, Nisar Ahmad Khuhro, former defence minister Aftab Shaban Mirani and district president, PPP, Ayaz Soomro and others also addressed the meeting.
