1,000 workers to be sent to Malaysia

ISLAMABAD, May 15: Pakistan will soon send a batch of 1,000 workers to Malaysia in reply to the latter’s demand for 100,000 in various sectors, official sources said. After including Pakistan in the list of manpower source countries, Malaysia has given a target of 100,000 workers to Islamabad. The two countries have also exchanged high-level delegations to discuss modalities regarding the export of manpower to Malaysia.

The sources said Malaysia had expressed its satisfaction over the Pakistan’s workers and pledged to provide all basic facilities during their stay. It may be mentioned that Malaysia has recently adjusted 1,100 Pakistani workers, out of 2,800 illegal ones, and granted them legal stay.

Meanwhile, the sources said Singapore had also included Pakistan in the list of manpower source countries and would soon seek export of manpower in construction, domestic services and marine sectors. The process of export of manpower to Singapore will start after completion of all the formalities on both sides, the sources added. — APP
