KARACHI: Decomposed body found

KARACHI, May 15: The decomposed body of an elderly man was found in his apartment in F.B. Area on Sunday. Police said area people complained to the police of a stench emanating from the locked flat. Police came and broke down the door and recovered a decomposed body.

Police said the body was over a week old and was badly decomposed. It was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem examination. Hospital sources said the victim’s throat had been slit.

Police said the body was identified as that of Haji Sultan, 65. The victim was said to have been living alone in the house.

Following the recovery, the victim’s relatives were informed of the incident.

SUICIDE: A faith healer was believed to have committed suicide reportedly by slitting his throat in Mehmoodabad.

Police said Muhammad Ramazan, 45, slit his throat at his house in Manzoor Colony early Sunday morning. Police said, according to the victim’s family, the deceased was carrying out a spell during which he turned the knife on himself.

Police shifted the body to the JPMC for post-mortem examination.

KILLED: A young man was killed by unknown persons in Landhi.

Police said Mumtaz, 20, was standing outside his house in Mansehra Colony when unknown persons opened fire on him late Saturday night.

Police said the victim suffered bullet wounds in the chest and died on his way to the hospital.

FIRE: A fire broke out in a gas pipeline during excavation work being carried out at the National Stadium Road on Sunday.

A spokesman for the fire department said that during the excavation work, a gas pipeline was damaged, which sparked a fire. Huge flames leaped out from the line, which was brought under control after gas supply was disconnected.
