Pakistanis stranded in BD seek citizenship

By Our Correspondent

DHAKA, May 14: Dozens of the stranded Pakistanis demonstrated here on Saturday and demanded Bangladeshi citizenship and solution to their problems. They submitted a memorandum to the ministry of disaster management and relief, urging their permanent rehabilitation in Bangladesh, end to an eviction drive by the city corporation, resumption of relief, a government decision not to snap power supply and repair of water supply lines to their camps.

The protesters under the banner of the Stranded Pakistanis Youth Rehabilitation Movement gathered in front of its office at Pallabi Thana and held a rally. They marched towards the ministry of disaster management and relief.

Police intercepted the procession but allowed a six-member body led by the movement’s president Sadakat Hossain to go to the ministry and submit the memorandum.
