GILGIT, May 14: Prince Karim Agha Khan and President Gen Pervez Musharraf will visit the Northern Areas in the last week of this month, sources told Dawn. Northern Areas administration and the District Council in a meeting reviewed preparations and arrangements for the visit.

The meeting was presided over by Chief Secretary Nadeem Manzoor. Chairman District Council Gilgit Muhammad Hussain was given a briefing about the visit and preparations for a public gathering.

COLLEGES: Five polytechnic colleges are being established in five districts of Northern Areas to impart job-oriented education to the youth.

The educational authorities told Dawn here on Saturday that each college would be completed at a cost of Rs120 million.

They said when PC-1 of the project had been proposed there had been only five districts in N Areas and due to this reason Astore district, carved out later, was not been included in this programme.
