By Our Correspondent

PESHAWAR, May 14: Chief Executive of the Lady Reading Hospital Dr Abdul Samad has said that monthly stipend of nursing students will be increased soon.

Dr Samad called upon the nursing students to perform their duties with sincerity and devotion.

He said that nurses along with doctors and paramedics formed a triangular that made health delivery system possible; therefore, nurses deserved appropriate salaries besides respect.

He said that the government felt that the monthly stipend of the nursing students was too low though their job demanded handsome stipend.

“We have forwarded suggestions to the Pakistan Nursing Council to bring changes in the uniform of nurses to make them more dignified,” he said and added that the new uniform should reflect the seniority and juniority of nurses.

Dr Samad said that the nursing profession was akin to worship and added that the government wanted to give more facilities to nurses to attract more people to their noble profession.

The number of nurses in the hospitals was very low when compared to the number of patients, he said, adding that the need for more nurses is being direly felt.
