KARACHI: Koocha-i-Saqafat

KARACHI, May 14: The second “Koocha-i-Saqafat” will be held on Sunday with the cooperation of Koocha-i-Saqafat Committee of Arts Council and Sindh Culture and Tourism Department.

The cultural activities will continue till late in the night.

Koocha-i-Saqafat Committee Chairman Saifur Rehman Grami said that this festival, being organized in the first phase on the initiative of Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad, would serve as the first step towards the establishment of “Cultural Village”, so that Karachiites are made to enjoy at least one evening in a clean and fascinating environment and later every evening gradually.

The Sunday festival has been divided into three activities:

(1) Aao Rang Bharen (lets fill the colours): In this segment city noted calligraphists and painters will give a demonstration of their art.

(2) Aao Kitab Parhen (lets read the book): In this segment, city’s prominent publishers and book sellers will organize stalls of new and valuable books. Hopefully, a large number of writers and poets will remain present in person and sign their creations.

(3) Aao Hunarmand Doston Se Milen (lets meet skilled friends): In this segment, an effort has been made to provide an opportunity to skilled men and women, who produce their products at home, would be able to sell them out directly by themselves and this will help in promoting poverty alleviation movement and also provide a boost to their income.

By holding such events, he said, the dying culture and street theatre will regain popularity.

He said programmes had been organized for calligraphy, colour and light music competitions between children while amateur artists will get an opportunity to highlight their art. — APP
