HYDERABAD: Nazim demands removal of TMO

Bureau Report

HYDERABAD, May 13: Taluka Nazim Haji Moinuddin Shaikh has appealed to the president, NRB chairman, Sindh governor and chief minister to immediately remove the taluka municipal officer who, he alleged, was trying to sabotage local bodies’ system.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Friday, he said the TMO had cancelled promotion orders of no less than 125 employees who were promoted in consultation with the CBA union one year back.

He said following the bifurcation of Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, these promotions had become inevitable to run the affairs of the taluka municipal administration.

The nazim said the promotions were subject to be approval of the departmental promotion committee which had been suspended by the former minister for the local government.

He said in case any of the promotion was found illegal, he would have no objection if the promotion was cancelled.

The nazim said all these 125 employees could not had been promoted on the political basis or due to nepotism or favouritism.

He said the bona fide of these promotions could be gauged from the fact that only six employees had challenged the promotion orders.
