KARACHI, May 12: A policeman died and a pedestrian was injured in an encounter with armed suspects in Solider Bazaar on Wednesday night. Police said a gang of armed suspects was reportedly looting pedestrians near Jamaat Khana. Some people informed, two policemen who were patrolling on their motorcycle in close proximity.
As the two policemen reached the spot, the suspects opened fire, killing head constable Mohammad Akhtar on the spot.
The armed suspects managed to escape following the shootout, police said.
A pedestrian Mohammad Husain was injured in the firing near a fast-food outlet near Jamaatkhana.
SHOT DEAD: Two young men were shot dead by unknown persons in F.B. Area Thursday night.
Police said the two victims who could not be initially identified were on their motorcycle (LOG-3783) when they were fired upon by the attackers who were chasing them.
Police said the victims who were in their mid-30s died on the spot. Police moved the bodies to Abbasi Hospital for postmortem.
KILLED: Two decomposed bodies were recovered from different parts of the city on Thursday.
A decomposed body of a young man was recovered from a locked house in Garden area late Wednesday night.
Police said body of Arshad, 26, was recovered from his house in Kharia Compound. Police said victim’s uncle Ismail had come to visit his nephew when he found his body. A knife was also recovered lying close to the body.
The young man used to live alone in the house following the death of his mother a few years back. Police said that the victim was a fish trader.
Body of an unidentified man was recovered from bushes in Gadap on Thursday.
Police said body was recovered near Usman Poultry Farm in Ashraf Colony. The victim was in his mid 20’s. Police shifted the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for post-mortem examination. Hospital sources said that the body bore torture marks.
WOUNDED: Deputy Director of the Malir Development Authority was critically wounded when unknown persons opened fire on his car at National Highway on Thursday night.
Mohammad Ayub Khan, 45, was heading to his residence in (GA-0910) with his driver. As he reached near Landhi Jail, unknown persons opened fire on his vehicle.
Driver who survived, drove the vehicle to JPMC, where the deputy director, was rushed to the operation theatre.
Hospital sources that Ayub suffered five bullet wounds and was in a a critical condition.
Till our filing of this report, the victim was still being operated upon. Police were questioning the driver about the description of attackers.
HOLDUP: Computer disks worth millions of rupees were taken away at gunpoint by several armed suspects in Nazimabad late Wednesday night.
According to the complainant, Mohammad Rashid, several men barged into his “Sheza and Sana Computer Embroidery Outlet” at Khilafat Chowk.
The suspects held the inmates hostage at gunpoint and took away computer disks having embroidery software. An FIR was lodged at the Paposhnanager police station.
