Sana, Sehar win
KARACHI, May 11: Top seed Sana Bhagat and Sehar Khwaja cruised into the next round in the ladies singles event, disposing off their respective opponents with effortless ease in the KC Summer National Tennis Championship played on Wednesday at the Karachi Club.
Sana was just too good for Samar Essa, coming through a 6-0, 6-0 winner. Sehar on the other hand hardly raised a sweat before overcoming the challenge of Bushra Chawla also by a 6-0, 6-0 margin. On a hectic second day in the men’s singles, second seed Nomi Qamar made short work of Irfanullah 6-1, 6-1, but Jalil Khan after losing the first set to Khurram Nazir 3-6, bounced back to take the next two sets and match 6-0, 6-1.
Also moving along was talented Tanvir Ashiq a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Saqib Hussain. Nasir Mushtaq battled hard before going down to former Davis cupper Inam Gul 6-2, 7-5. Also bowing out were the Babar brothers Omer and Mohammad. Omar was beaten by Asim Shafiq 6-2, 6-2, while Mohammad lost to Shahzad Khan 6-1, 6-1.
In the Boys under-13, top seed Vicky Kumar beat Ahsan Ali 6-1, 6-1. In a cliff hanger Hasan Azad beat Dinesh Das 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) and Adil Kohari was all at ease, as he shut out Niaz Hussain 6-1, 6-1. Second seeds Nomi Qamar and Mohammad Shafiq beat Tanvir Munir and Khurram Nazir 6-2, 6-3 in the only men’s doubles match played.

Asim Shafiq bt Omer Babar 6-2, 6-2. Mehmood Khan beat Gul Hameed 6-1, 6-1. Jalil Khan bt Khurram Nazir 3-6, 6-0, 6-1. Nomi Qamar bt Irfanullah 6-1, 6-1. Shehzad Khan bt Mohammad Babar 6-1, 6-1. Inam Gul beat Nasir Mushtaq 6-2, 7-5. Shahid Khan bt Wakeel Khan 6-3, 6-3, Adnan Khan bt Usman Khan 6-1, 6-1, Tanvir Ashiq bt Saqib Hussain 6-2, 6-3. Jahanzeb leading Fawad Ali 6-2.
