Shahbaz urges ulema to combat extremism

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, May 11: PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif has urged the ulema and religious scholars to play their role in combating religious extremism and sectarianism. Addressing an Eid-i-Milad function at a London mosque, he said the ulema should also use their energies in forging unity among the Muslims.

He said Pakistan should be made an Islamic welfare state as this was the real goal of the achievement of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent. He said the target could be achieved if everyone worked honestly in the light of the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah.

Shahbaz said Pakistan should be made a modern, but tolerant society.
