KARACHI, May 11: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Wednesday ordered to give stipend to minor diploma postgraduate trainee doctors. Presiding over a meeting in the Governor’s House regarding medical education and postgraduate training of doctors, he stressed that the system of minor diploma training should be streamlined. He asked the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan that besides the DCPS trainee doctors all trainee doctors of minor diplomas of DLO and DCH, should also be given a stipend of Rs6,210 per month.
He said that facilities and needs of their supervisors should also be taken care of according to the ratio of their trainees. He also issued directives for the formation of a committee to review the facilities of minor diploma in the province and improve them up to a set standard. Prof Sultan Farooqui, Prof Maqsood Hameed, Prof Jan Muhammad and Naushad Sheikh will be committee members.
He instructed that stipend for postgraduate trainees of CPSP fellows should be increased to Rs10,000 per month. He also gave instructions to revise the district-wise distribution of medial seats in government medical colleges and universities keeping in mind the formation of new districts. In this regard, a committee would be formed, which would soon submit its report. — PPI
