PESHAWAR, May 10: Government High School, Nanakpura and Higher Secondary School (HSS) No.2 booked berths in the semifinals of the PCB National Inter-school cricket championship held at two different venues of the city on Tuesday. Nanakpura defeated Civil Quarters High School by 74 runs at Arbab Niaz Stadium while City No.2 shocked Government High School No.3, Cantt by eight wickets at Gymkhana ground.

Nanakpura won the toss and scored 176 for nine wickets in 25.4. Opener Masood Shah hammered 46 off 21 balls with five boundaries and a six, Shahzad Khan struck 40 off 61 balls with two boundaries and Shehzad Ahmed Shah hit 22 off 34.

Ijaz Afridi claimed four wickets for 32 in six overs.

Civil Quarters were bowled out for 102 in 23.2 overs with Arbab Mushtaq (26) and Ijaz Afridi (33) being the only prominent scorers. In the other match Cantt No.3 won the toss and scored 101 in 19.1 overs. Sajid Hussain (25) was the top-scorer.

City No.2 reached the target for the loss of two wickets in 18.5 overs. Majid Khan (22) and Adnan Khalid (23) were the high scorers for the winners.

Nanakpura face City No.2 in the first semifinal at Gymkhana ground while Pakha Ghulam meet Cantt No.3 School in the second semifinal at Arbab Niaz Stadium. The final will be played on May 12.—APP
