LONDON, May 10: Former Bangladesh captain Khaled Mashud has said he intends to use his country’s current tour of England to bolster his hopes of playing county cricket. “Show me a player who doesn’t want to play in England,” said the wicket-keeper batsman in an interview in June’s Wisden Cricketer magazine published here on Tuesday.
“It has been a childhood dream and the possibility of evoking the interest of a county side is an added incentive for me to do well on this tour.” Bangladesh have won just one of their 36 Tests, recently breaking their duck against fellow strugglers Zimbabwe.
They face an England ranked second in the world in a two Test series starting at Lord’s on May 26. Bangladesh then participate in a triangular one-day tournament also featuring Australia.—AFP
