Pakistan’s concern conveyed to US

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, May 10: Pakistan conveyed its deep concerns to the US embassy here on Tuesday on the reported desecration of the Holy Quran at Guantanamo Bay and the derogatory cartoon that was published in Washington Times of May 6. A statement issued by the Foreign Office said in a similar action, the Pakistan Embassy in Washington DC also took up the two issues with the US authorities concerned.

According to Foreign Office, the US officials stated that the alleged perpetrators of the reported desecration would be held accountable after the matter has been appropriately investigated and responsibility is established.

The Foreign Office said the US officials reiterated the administration’s deep appreciation for the critical role of Pakistan in the international campaign against terrorism. The US officials said US greatly valued the efforts of Pakistan in countering terrorism.
