JERUSALEM: Israeli police on Tuesday raided and closed two Palestinian election offices in the Arab sector of Jerusalem that were registering voters for a July parliamentary election, accusing them of operating illegally. Palestinian elections chief Ammar Dwaik said the closure was a ‘serious incident’ that violated an agreement with Israel to sign up Arab voters in the holy city. But Israeli police said Palestinian election activity was not allowed. Three election workers were arrested, and police seized election material from the centres, both sides said.—Reuters
