ISLAMABAD, May 10: The chairman, Central Board of Revenue, M. Abdullah Yusuf on Tuesday asked the collectors of customs that all the confiscated and tempered vehicles should be disposed of latest by June 30 to generate more revenue for meeting the tax collection target.
The chairman stated this while addressing the fourth quarterly conference of collectors. The chairman said that auction of the confiscated vehicles be carried out keeping in view the near to market reserve price so that the disposal could be made without any further delay.
Regarding the tempered vehicles, Mr. Yusuf said that “we have been receiving requests from several government organisations, particularly from the law enforcing agencies for purchase of these tempered vehicles, so it has been decided that these will be sold to such departments on fair prices,” he maintained.
Member Customs Ramzan Bhatti informed the conference that the SRO culture would be eliminated or reduced to the bare minimum level. He said that confiscated betel nuts, which have been declared unfit for human consumption by the relevant laboratories, would be destroyed.
It was decided that speedy disposal of auctionable cargo would be carried out, liquidation of recoverable arrears would be ensured, clearance of overstayed goods in bonded warehouses would be made and encashment of bank guaranties and securities would also be made to meet the revenue collection target.
