Five held for sectarian killings

KARACHI, May 9: Five suspected militants wanted for their alleged involvement in 15 sectarian killings have been arrested, police said on Monday. The five members of the outlawed Lashkar-i-Jhangvi group were arrested in raids on their hideouts, the police said, adding the detainees had confessed to being involved in the killings of six employees of Suparco.

“The suspects have confessed their involvement in the killing of six employees of the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission in October 2003,” said a senior police official seeking anonymity.

They were also allegedly involved in the murder of nine people at a mosque in Al Falah area in February 2003.—AFP
