KARACHI, May 9: The KC Summer Pakistan Ranking National Championship which has attracted a large number of entries from all over the country begins from Tuesday at the Karachi Club. So far 130 entries have been received for five events with maximum entries received in the men’s singles which has attracted 49 players.
All in all 32 entries have been received from Sindh, Punjab and NWFP which include Asim Shafique, Shehzad Khan, both Davis cuppers and Sara Mehboob, who last Sunday won the ladies title of the National clay court championship at Islamabad.
Total prize money in the tournament is Rs150,000. The winner of the men’s singles will receive Rs30,000 while the ladies singles champion will take home Rs10,000.
Although matches begin in the morning, the formal opening will be held at 5-30 p.m. at the venue.
Aqeel Khan is top seeded in the men’s singles with Nomi Qamar at No.2. Sana Bhagat is the ladies top seed with Zarmeen Shoeb at No.2.
In the juniors under-17 events Omer Baber is top seeded with Tanveer Ashiq at No.2. In the boys under-13 event, Sunny Williams is ranked number one with Omer Shahid at No.2.
TUESDAY’S FIXTURES:
Men’s singles from 9.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. Juniors under-17 singles from 2.00 p.m.
