LAHORE, May 9: Shoaib Malik’s chances of bowling without any fear of suspect action have brightened, according to a report prepared by a biomechanics expert of South Africa. Skipper Inzamamul Haq told reporters on Monday that according to the medical report Shoaib’s arm bent up to 6.7 degrees, therefore, he was far away from the ICC’s restriction which allows the bent to 15 degree.
Inzamam said that it was good news that Shoaib would continue his bowling without any fear of being called in the West Indies tour. The team is leaving for the West Indies on Wednesday from Karachi to play two Tests and three ODIs.
He said that he decided to check Shoaib as a bowler in India, despite the fear of calling, but the decision played a key role in giving Pakistan win in the one-day series. The skipper said that he intends to also use Shoaib Malik in Test matches in the West Indies.
“Having Shoaib’s services as a bowler, our team looks stronger and well balanced and because of this factor, I give importance to him,” Inzamam said. Inzamam said that he had no personal differences with speedster Shoaib Akhtar.
“I think if Shoaib is match-fit there should be no problem as far as his selection in the team is concerned,” Inzamam said. He said that wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal was preferred over Moin Khan and similarly Shahid Nazir and Bazid Khan inducted in the team because of their better performances at the domestic level.
Talking about the team’s chances in the West Indies, Inzamam said: “As hosts the West Indies will have the advantage of home crowd and grounds.
“And although they have a good batting line-up, they lack an effective bowling attack, while we are balanced in both departments.” Inzamam said that he was relying on leg-spinner Danish Kaneria and expected a lot of him during the tour.
