940 cusecs lake water released on Monday

DADU, May 9: The executive engineer, southern irrigation division, Dadu, Ishtiaq Ahmad Memon, has said 940 cusecs of polluted water was released from the Manchhar Lake through the Aral Wah into the River Indus on Monday. Talking to journalists here, he said water flow in the Indus was 44,639 cusecs at downstream Sukkur.

He said the level of the Manchhar Lake was reducing slowly and it was 108.95RL on Monday. He said 0.8 inches of water was flowing in the Nai Gaaj.

HUNGER STRIKE: Two residents of the Jam Zardari village, Mehar taluka, Amanullah Zardari and Umid Ali Zardari, continued their hunger strike unto death for the 11th day here on Monday.

They are protesting against the Radhan police for registering what they called a fake case of encounter against their relatives and allegedly occupying their fish pond.
